The skies of Patna are set to dazzle with the roar and flair of Indian Air Force (IAF)’s elite Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team as the city gets ready to celebrate Shaurya Diwas on April 22 and 23. This grand event, being held on the banks of the river Ganga, is a tribute to the indomitable spirit of Bihar’s legendary freedom fighter, Veer Kunwar Singh, who played a heroic role in the 1857 War of Independence.

For the first time ever, the Surya Kiran team will perform their stunning aerial manoeuvres over the Patna skyline, offering a visual feast to thousands of spectators expected to gather along the JP Ganga Path near Sabhyata Dwar.

The event will be graced by several high-profile dignitaries, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, adding both gravitas and glamour to the celebrations.

Full Dress Rehearsal on April 22

Before the main event, a full-scale dress rehearsal will take place on April 22, ensuring every detail—from aerial choreography to crowd management—is in perfect alignment.

A City Transformed: Traffic and Parking Plans in Place

To handle the expected surge in traffic and crowd movement, the Patna District Administration and Traffic Police have rolled out an extensive traffic management plan:

  • Parking Facilities:
Multiple parking zones have been set up based on where attendees are arriving from:

    • From Danapur and Ashoka Rajpath: JP Setu Ghat, Digha Ghat, Ghat No. 88 and 93.

    • From Gaighat towards Sabhyata Dwar: Patna College ground, Science College ground, and Krishna Ghat.

    • From JP Golambar: Gandhi Maidan, with all gates open for public parking.

    • Other Options: Mahendru Ghat, Collectorate Ghat, Kadam Kuan Ghat, and a designated lane on JP Ganga Path via LCT Ghat underpass.

  • Route Diversions:
To ensure smooth flow, diversions will be in place from 6 AM to 11 AM on both days:

    • LCT Ghat approach road will function as a one-way route.

    • Vehicles heading to Bapu Sabhagar for concurrent events will use the route via JP Setu, Atal Path, and R Block.

    • Underground parking at Bapu Sabhagar will be available for smaller vehicles.

  • Strict Enforcement:
Six cranes will be strategically deployed to tow away improperly parked vehicles. Traffic SP Aparajit Lohan has warned that strict legal action will be taken against traffic violators. The administration has also urged the public to follow all traffic advisories to ensure a smooth and safe experience.

A Historic Tribute in the Sky

Shaurya Diwas is more than a celebration—it’s a reminder of Bihar’s brave legacy. With the mighty jets of the Surya Kiran team soaring overhead, Patna is not just witnessing a thrilling air show, but honoring a proud chapter of its history.

As the city counts down to this extraordinary aerial display, excitement is at an all-time high. One thing is certain—Patna is about to witness a spectacle for the ages.
