In a significant move aimed at strengthening public services and generating employment opportunities, the Bihar Cabinet on Tuesday approved the creation and recruitment of 27,370 posts across various departments. The decision, announced after the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, covers key sectors such as health, education, agriculture, administration, and more.

Massive Boost for Health Sector: 20,016 Posts Approved

The lion’s share of this recruitment drive comes from the Health Department, which received approval for the creation of 20,016 posts under the newly proposed “Public Health Cadre” and “Hospital Management Cadre.” This structural overhaul is aimed at improving the delivery of healthcare services and hospital administration throughout the state.

Urdu Language Promotion: 3,306 Translator Posts Created

In a move to promote linguistic inclusivity, the cabinet gave a green light for the creation of 3,306 assistant Urdu translator posts. These roles will be filled under the provisions of the Bihar State Urdu Translator Cadre Rules, 2016, and translators will be deployed across district, subdivision, block, and circle level offices.

Agriculture Department to Get 2,590 Clerks

To enhance efficiency in the Agriculture Department’s operations, the cabinet has also approved the creation of 2,590 clerk cadre posts. This step is expected to streamline departmental functions and strengthen rural outreach programs.

New Excise Laboratories in Six Districts

The Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department received approval to establish six new Excise Chemical Laboratories in the districts of Rohtas, Aurangabad, West Champaran, Begusarai, Kishanganj, and Gopalganj. 48 new posts have been created for staffing these labs, which are expected to bolster efforts in regulating and testing alcoholic substances in the state.

Strengthening AYUSH Infrastructure: 36 Posts at Patna Hospital

To support the operations of a newly set up 50-bed Integrated AYUSH Hospital in Patna, the cabinet sanctioned 36 posts, covering both gazetted and non-gazetted cadres. Additionally, 35 data entry operator posts have been created for the Bihar Staff Selection Commission to streamline administrative processing.

Quality Education Monitoring at the Panchayat Level

In an important education sector reform, the cabinet approved the constitution of the “Bihar Education Administrative Cadre Rules 2025.” A decentralized inspection system will be established, where an Assistant Education Development Officer (AEDO) will be responsible for inspecting schools in every 10 panchayats, while Education Development Officers (EDOs) will monitor schools at the block level. These officers will be appointed through the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC).

This move aims to bring micro-level accountability and regular monitoring from primary to higher secondary schools, ensuring better educational outcomes.
