New Delhi, March 22, 2025: Bihar Diwas was celebrated with immense enthusiasm and grandeur at Dilli Haat, INA, marking the 113th anniversary of Bihar’s formation as a separate state on March 22, 1912. The event, a part of the ongoing Bihar Utsav, showcased the state's rich cultural heritage, art, handicrafts, and progress in various sectors.
The celebrations were graced by Hon’ble Minister of Industries, Shri Nitish Mishra, who attended as the Chief Guest. In his address, Shri Mishra highlighted Bihar’s historical significance and its modern advancements. “I have been a student of history, and there was a time when the history of the world revolved around Bihar. If you belong to Bihar, I urge you to encourage your friends to visit the state at least once. There is so much here that people from across the country should see. Bihar today understands its responsibility in the field of industry. Even those residing outside Bihar can see the state's steady progress. We are moving forward, guided by new policies. Today, Bihar boasts of robust infrastructure and good governance. The state is ready to soar to new heights,” he remarked.
Smt. Bandana Preyashi, Secretary, Department of Industries, emphasized Bihar’s transformation and emerging role as an attractive investment destination. “The state of Bihar was established 113 years ago, and since then, we have been celebrating this festival. Together, we are striving to present a new image of Bihar. Bihar is not just about Madhubani paintings, Bhagalpur silk, or litchis—Bihar is fast emerging as an attractive destination for investment as well,” she stated.
Shri Kundan Kumar, Resident Commissioner of Bihar, urged members of Bihar’s diaspora to reconnect with their roots and actively participate in the state’s growth. “Bihar Foundation invites all members of the diaspora to join hands with us under the motto of Bonding, Branding, and Business. Together, let’s create avenues for mutual prosperity and strengthen our ties with Bihar,” he said.
Adding to the cultural and artistic significance of the event, Shri Shekhar Anand, Director, Technical Development, underscored the role of artisans in preserving Bihar’s legacy. “Each artifact and artwork displayed here tells the story of Bihar’s centuries-old heritage and skill. Our artisans are not only preserving history but also shaping the future,” he noted.

As part of the Bihar Diwas celebrations, a special cultural evening was organized, featuring performances by renowned artists from Bihar. The lineup included:

Bihar Utsav, an annual celebration, is being held at Dilli Haat, INA, from March 16 to March 31, 2025. Visitors have the opportunity to witness and experience Bihar’s cultural splendor through a variety of traditional arts, crafts, cuisine, and performances. The grand fair serves as a platform to promote Bihar’s heritage, entrepreneurial ventures, and artistic excellence on a national stage.
